The city of Antwerp
With over half a million inhabitants, Antwerp is Belgium's largest city. It is located in Flanders, the Dutch-speaking part of Belgium.
Antwerp is Europe's second-largest port and has much of the zest often associated with a harbour town. The city has so many different faces that it takes a while before one gets to know it thoroughly. Locals proudly refer to their city as cosmopolitan with a village atmosphere: you can find everything here, but always within walking, or at least cycling, distance (for which the Antwerp city bikes are available).
In the Antwerp skyline, the Cathedral of Our Lady takes pride of place. It is the highest church spire in the Low Lands and is on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
Antwerp is the city on the Scheldt, the city on the river, facilitating encounters and exchanges between people from all over the world for several centuries.
The city and the port converge in the hip Eilandje district, an old dockside neighbourhood, where the MAS (Museum aan de Stroom - Museum at the River) stands out with its stunning architecture and museum collection.
Last but not least, Antwerp is thé capital of fashion, shopping and design. Our fashion programme is one of the most influential in its kind in the world.
But we kindly invite you to discover those exciting parts yourself!
